The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a highly capable and well‑organised professional to the role of Nursery Manager at Newcastle High School for Girls.
This is a key role within the school, responsible for the operational leadership and day‑to‑day delivery of Early Years provision. Working closely with the Early Years Lead and Nursery Teacher, the Nursery Manager will ensure that Nursery, wrap‑around and holiday provision are consistently well organised, responsive to families and delivered to the highest standard.
The role plays an important part in ensuring that the Early Years setting operates effectively within a busy and evolving environment. It requires a clear and structured approach to organisation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate people, systems and processes so that provision runs smoothly and consistently.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the operational aspects of Nursery provision, bringing clarity and consistency to daily activity and ensuring a positive and well‑managed experience for both children and families. The role also contributes to the effective organisation and development of Early Years provision within the wider life of the school.
About the School
Newcastle High School for Girls is the North East’s leading independent girls’ day school. Our pupils are ambitious, curious and motivated, and we are proud to provide an exceptional education within a warm, supportive and aspirational community.
As part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) - the UK’s leading family of independent girls’ schools - we benefit from a national network of expertise, collaboration and opportunity. The GDST is committed to empowering girls and young women through education and to creating environments in which both pupils and staff can thrive.
Our Early Years provision sits firmly within this educational context. It is designed not simply as childcare, but as the starting point of a continuous school journey, supported by teaching‑led practice and a well‑established transition into Reception.
The Nursery itself provides a first‑class environment for young children, with flexible, well‑designed indoor and outdoor spaces dedicated to Early Years learning. This includes a fully equipped indoor Learning Zone alongside a range of carefully resourced learning areas, all fitted out to a high standard to support both structured and exploratory play.
The setting is located within our five‑acre Junior School site, a historic urban parkland environment in the heart of the city. This unique location provides access to a wide range of facilities, including Forest School, indoor and outdoor sports and dance provision, and a range of specialist and general teaching spaces. These facilities are fully integrated into the Early Years experience, providing opportunities for exploration, physical development and creativity within a secure and well‑resourced environment.
