We are a well-established waste management company with over 40 years’ experience in the recycling and resource recovery sector.
As part of our continued growth, we are operating a state-of-the-art, small-scale Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Leeds that converts Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) into renewable heat and electricity.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Plant Operator to join our operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern, highly automated industrial facility where safety, reliability and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
Working alongside our experienced operations and maintenance teams, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, helping to maximise performance, reliability and environmental compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operating and monitoring the Energy from Waste plant and associated drying equipment.
Using the SCADA control system to monitor plant performance, respond to alarms and optimise operations.
Starting up, shutting down and controlling plant equipment safely and efficiently.
Monitoring process parameters including temperatures, pressures, flow rates and emissions.
Recording operational data and completing shift reports.
Carrying out routine inspections of mechanical and process equipment.
Identifying faults and working closely with maintenance engineers to minimise downtime.
Supporting process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Ensuring full compliance with Environmental Permit conditions, Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.

Essential Skills
Previous experience operating industrial process plant.
Experience using SCADA, DCS or other computerised process control systems.
Good understanding of industrial process control and automated plant operation.
Mechanical aptitude with basic fault-finding skills.
Knowledge of pumps, motors, conveyors, valves and rotating equipment.
Ability to interpret process data and respond appropriately to changing plant conditions.
Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Good IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate operational records.
Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends where required.
Desirable Skills
Experience within an Energy from Waste, power generation or industrial processing
Electrical, mechanical or process engineering qualifications.
First Aid, Confined Space or Working at Height certification.
