Job Description:
Job Title: Site Engineer.
Reports to: Contracts / Site Manager.
Location: Initially based at our project in Brighton. Thereafter, the role will be based at the Company's construction sites throughout the UK and Ireland, depending on business requirements.
Summary of the Role:
This role is suitable for candidates based in the Brighton area, as well as candidates from Northern Ireland who are willing to travel and work away from home.
Reporting to the Contracts / Site Manager, you will be responsible for the effective implementation of the planned design, providing all setting out on site to ensure that work progresses on time and that all checks are carried out on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Ensuring accurate setting out and levelling of the works in accordance with drawings / specifications.
- Ensuring all drawings and information relating to your area of work are accurate and up to date.
- Reviewing Architect/Engineer/Services/Sub-Contractor drawings, ensuring coordination and integration.
- Ensuring quality control and testing of work and materials is carried out in accordance with the specification requirements.
- Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with the Construction Programme.
- Carrying out checks on works, prior to and following any concrete pours.
- Fulfilling the role of Temporary Works Coordinator as and when required.
- Acting as the main technical advisor, directing and supervising the day-to-day operations of sub-contractors when required and resolving any technical issues that may arise.
- Liaising with local authorities as appropriate, ensuring compliance with local construction regulations.
- Delivering induction and toolbox talks on site.
- Controlling and monitoring site waste in accordance with the Company’s Site Waste Minimisation and Management policy.
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of own activity relating to projects on Gateway, enabling traceability.
- Establishing, maintaining and building good relations with clients, as well as their representatives, and liaising with GA Project Teams and sub- contractors, ensuring they do likewise.
- Fulfilling health, safety and welfare responsibilities as detailed in the Company’s Policy and in compliance with ISO 45001.
- Maintaining quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Undertaking all relevant training and development activities as required.
- Fulfilling the role of mentor as and when required.
- Supervising on site as required, where appropriate training in site supervision has been completed.
- Continuing to develop knowledge of innovative construction techniques and products, enhancing the business and fulfil company CPD requirements.
- Contributing to the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Person Specification:
Required Experience:
- 3+ years’ recent and relevant experience as a Site Engineer.
- A minimum of 2+ years’ experience successfully managing and coordinating sub-contractors on a large scale.
- Understanding of the construction process.
- Proven track record of monitoring sub-contractors.
- Experience in AutoCAD.
- Experience in carrying out Health and Safety assessments / inspections.
Desirable Experience:
- Relevant technical knowledge.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, health & safety and legal regulations.
- Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator / Supervisor.
Required Education:
- A Degree or HND / HNC / BTEC in Building Engineering, Civil / Construction Engineering or Construction.
- CSR Card, CSCS Card or Solas Safe Pass (ROI).
Desirable Education:
- Post Graduate Engineering Qualification
- CIOB / ICE / OStructE Accreditation.
- SSSTS or SMSTS Card.
- First Aid at Work Certificate.
