Job Summary
Oswestry Community Action is a charity working to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life across Shropshire and the Borderlands. The Community Engagement Officer will support the delivery of the social prescribing project and is part of a team of four Community Engagement Officers. The role of the team is to promote social prescribing and enable collaborative working to support health and wellbeing initiatives that meet the needs of Shropshire’s communities. This role will be based in and focussed on North Shropshire.
Job Overview
The Community Engagement Officer role is to:
- promote social prescribing throughout the county of Shropshire;
- facilitate Community Connector meetings and maintain a countywide network of individuals and organisations delivering activity linked to social prescribing;
- develop networks for peer support and embed these locally;
- promote the work of the Community Research Engagement Network;
- this role will involve working closely with the PCNs, VCS and Health/Public sectors, providing information and advice, networking, and opportunities to develop services where gaps are identified.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of achieving set aims and objectives.
- Experience working with voluntary and community groups in a range of settings.
- Ability to promote local services.
- Experience working in partnership with a variety of other organisations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Understanding of the issues facing rural communities, and how to work with communities to offer solution-based proposals.
This role is ideal for proactive individuals eager to contribute positively to community development through innovative engagement strategies. The role will require frequent travel around the Shropshire county. A full driving licence and own car is essential. Alternative travel arrangements will be discussed with disabled candidiates.
Salary £26,910 FTE, pro-rata £21,528 per annum. Working days to be agreed.
