A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Quality Inspector within our Materials Solutions business, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and integrity of components manufactured for the gas turbine and aerospace industries. Using advanced metrology equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), 3D scanning technology, and precision measuring tools, you'll inspect complex components against exact engineering specifications and customer requirements.
Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you'll help identify opportunities for continuous improvement while supporting the development of new inspection technologies and quality processes. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies in a business that is shaping the future of advanced engineering.
How You'll Make an Impact
-
Plan and perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, Zeiss Blue Light 3D scanners, and manual measuring equipment, ensuring products meet engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
-
Record, analyse, and report inspection results using quality systems including PC-DMIS, Zeiss PiWeb, Excel, and ERP systems, supporting product acceptance and non-conformance management.
-
Investigate and report quality issues through the non-conformance process while supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve product quality.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives by developing inspection methods, implementing new metrology technologies, and contributing to Quality Management System (QMS) improvements.
-
Provide technical guidance to colleagues on inspection techniques, measurement methods, and quality standards while supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
-
Promote a safe, organised, and efficient working environment by supporting 5S, TPM, and workplace improvement activities.
What You Bring
-
Experience in dimensional inspection within a precision manufacturing environment, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
-
Experience operating CMM equipment, ideally Hexagon CMMs using PC-DMIS, together with knowledge of 3D scanning technologies such as Zeiss GOM Inspect.
-
Strong understanding of manual and computerised metrology techniques, non-conformance management, and quality management systems.
-
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and familiarity with CAD software. Experience inspecting castings, additive manufactured components, or precision-machined parts would be advantageous.
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and quality excellence.
-
A collaborative mindset with high attention to detail, integrity, and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
