Family Support Worker – Empower Families & Fathers | Greenwich
Do you want to make a real difference for families and children in Greenwich?
We're looking for compassionate, motivated, and hands-on Family Support Workers to work directly with families in their homes and communities. You'll help parents build positive routines, mentor fathers and adolescent boys, and support families to overcome challenges and achieve lasting positive change.
What you'll do
- Support families with practical guidance, parenting strategies, and positive routines.
- Engage fathers, male caregivers, and adolescent boys through mentoring and coaching.
- Build trusting relationships with children, young people, and parents.
- Work closely with social workers, schools, health professionals, and community services.
- Deliver tailored support in family homes and community settings.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency planning.
- Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet families' needs.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience supporting children, young people, and families with complex needs.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of the UK children's social care, safeguarding, and family support system.
- Experience working with statutory agencies, schools, health services, or local authorities in the UK.
- Confidence working independently in homes and community settings.
- Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to produce professional reports and records.
- Ability to engage fathers, boys, and families who may be reluctant to access support.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
Desirable experience
Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas is highly welcomed:
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD.
- Child development and neurodiversity.
- Substance misuse and addiction.
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing.
- Domestic abuse and trauma-informed practice.
- Youth mentoring, behaviour support, and early intervention.
- Additional community languages (such as Yoruba, Romanian, Mandarin, Arabic, Polish, or others).
