Joiner – Joinery Manufacturing
Role Overview
The Joiner is responsible for planning, producing, assembling, and finishing joinery items to a high standard, working both independently and alongside the joinery shop management team. The role involves taking ownership of each job from start to finish, identifying potential issues early, maintaining best working practices, and ensuring all work meets the company’s quality acceptance criteria. The Joiner may also supervise others when required and contribute to continuous improvement across the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Joinery Production & Job Ownership
- Plan and run joinery jobs in coordination with the joinery shop management team.
- Work independently on assigned tasks, seeing each job through from start to completion.
- Self‑snag all work, ensuring high‑quality workmanship before progressing to the next stage.
- Inspect materials before use and determine suitability based on experience and job requirements.
- Identify and flag any cutters, tooling, or machinery that could improve efficiency.
Teamwork, Communication & Supervision
- Oversee joiners working under your direction when required.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and job progression.
- Respect and assist colleagues, contributing to a positive workshop environment.
- Follow instructions from managers and supervisors promptly and professionally.
- Contribute to resolving production or assembly issues where instructions need clarification.
Efficiency & Productivity
- Manage and supervise work requirements to meet project programmes when needed.
- Minimise waste and maximise productivity through efficient working methods.
- Ensure all work is completed in the most efficient manner applicable.
- Undertake additional hours when required to meet project deadlines.
Skills & Experience Required
- Joinery qualification or proven joinery experience essential.
- Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Overtime when required
- Willingness to support our Apprenticeship programme and take on an apprentice if requested.
