NOT YOUR EVERY DAY
Finance & Accounts Lead
Part-Time · Flexible Hours
Harlow, Essex | £34,000–£40,000 FTE (pro rata) | Part-time, 20–30 hrs/week
Why this role is worth your time
We supply premium, design-led furniture to some of the biggest brands in the world, at some of the largest events — Cannes Lions, Goodwood, brand launches, airshows, film sets. We’ve grown from nothing to around £3 million in three years, and we’re about to move into a larger warehouse as we keep scaling.
A business growing this fast needs its finance function to grow up with it. That’s where you come in. You’ll own the day-to-day running of finance, working closely with our Ops & Finance Director. You’ll get:
– Real ownership — you’ll produce the management accounts and run month-end, not just process transactions
– A part-time role of 20–30 hours a week, with flexible hours — the pattern is open to discussion, and we’re happy to work around school hours if that suits
– A business on the up — you’ll help shape the finance function as we scale, including our move to a new warehouse
– Variety — as a small business, no two weeks look the same, and you’ll get involved beyond the numbers
What you’ll actually be doing
– Prepare monthly management accounts and run month-end
– Manage our remote bookkeeping support, who work as part of a shared service — reviewing their work and keeping things on track
– Maintain the fixed asset register (important in a hire business with a large and growing stock of assets)
– Support payroll and the usual finance tasks — VAT, reconciliations, reporting
– Work in Xero day to day
– Get stuck into other areas of the business as we grow
You’ll report to and work closely with our Ops & Finance Director. This is a part-time role of 20–30 hours a week, and we’re flexible on the exact pattern — we’ll agree hours that work for you and for the role, school hours included if that suits.
What we need from you

– Confident with accounting systems (Xero ideal)
Preferred but not essential
– A recognised qualification — ACCA, CIMA or ACA, or working towards one
– Experience in an SME or owner-managed business
– Exposure to payroll and fixed assets
What you get
– £34,000–£40,000 FTE, pro rata for part-time hours
