Assistant Accountant
Based in the heart of Lincoln, Jacksons Workwear Rental has proudly supported businesses for over 230 years. Due to retirement, we are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our existing Finance Team and support our Finance Director. Location: Jacksons Workwear Rental, Lincoln
Hours: 38.5 per week (Monday to Thursday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 8am to 3pm)
Salary: £34,995-£36,997 per annum (£17.48-£18.48/hour)
What You’ll Do
* Process two payrolls, staff expenses and petty cash accurately and on time.
* Processing of Purchase Ledger Invoices within DocuWare into Sage 200, including Purchase Order 3-way matching.
* Prepare supplier payment runs for approval and processing through the banking system.
* Reconcile supplier account statements and resolve queries.
* Liaise with external service providers as required.
* Process monthly sales invoicing in ABS, then convert and import the data into Sage 200.
* Work with the Service Team to ensure pricing and customer purchase orders are entered accurately.
* Support Credit Control, shared services and debt recovery activity where required.
* Process banking payments accurately and in line with approval procedures.
* Complete bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy.
* Calculate and post monthly journals, including prepayments, accruals, corrections and other month-end adjustments.
* Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities.
* Assist with year-end audit preparation, disclosure information, reports, presentations and spreadsheets.
* Maintain office supplies, place orders as needed and keep inventory records up to date.

You should have:
* Educated to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent standard, including English and Mathematics.
* Relevant finance, accounting or administration qualification, such as AAT, BTEC, or a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
* AAT Level 3 or 4 , or part-qualified ACCA (Applied Skills).
* Previous experience in a finance or accounts role.
* Experience using Sage 200, DocuWare, ABS or similar finance systems would be desirable.
* Strong IT skills, with experience in Microsoft Office, Excel and willingness to learn systems such as CRM and Laundry Systems / industry.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

* A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and professional attitude with confidentiality and discretion essential.
