3.5T Van Driver / Loader - Caged Tipper - Commercial Waste, Watford/London
£31,590 gross a year (£13.50 an hour), based on 45 paid hours a week from Monday to Friday. Paid monthly. Full-time PAYE employment with 28 days' paid holiday, including bank holidays. About Capital Recycle
Capital Recycle is an independent, owner-operated commercial waste company established in 2022. The business is growing, and we collect commercial waste from building sites, shops, cafes, restaurants and offices across Watford and London.
We are a small, hands-on team with no middle management. You will work directly with the owner and be trusted to take responsibility for an established round of regular customers. If a route problem comes up, you speak to the person who can make a decision. This is a commercial collection round, not parcel multidrop or warehouse work.
The job
You will drive a 3.5-tonne caged tipper on a set round of business customers across London. Most collections involve lifting rubbish bags and emptying wheelie bins into the van by hand. You will take the load to a licensed disposal partner at the end of the shift. Some days include a larger office clearance, wait and load service or pallet collection.
You will normally work alone. The role includes:
- driving safely and professionally, including in central London
- carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
- loading bags and bins safely and securing the load
- logging each collection on an electronic device
- keeping the van and equipment in good working order
- speaking to customers politely and reporting access or collection problems
You start and finish in Watford.
Hours
The contract is for 45 paid hours a week, Monday to Friday. The work usually runs through the afternoon and into the evening, often finishing around 20:45. Friday may start earlier because it includes regular collections and one-off jobs. Shifts include a 45-minute unpaid break. The exact daily rota will be confirmed before an offer.
Customers put their bags out in the evening, so this is not an early-finish role. If you need to be home by 18:00 every day, it will not suit you.

What we need from you
- A full UK manual Category B licence held for at least two years. Any offer is conditional on a satisfactory DVLA licence check and approval as a named driver under our commercial motor policy.
- Confidence driving a caged 3.5-tonne van in central London.
- The ability to carry out frequent manual handling safely, including lifting bags and moving wheelie bins throughout the shift. Training and PPE are provided, and reasonable adjustments are available.
- Reliability and the ability to get to Watford for every scheduled start.
- A polite, practical approach with customers.
- The right to work in the UK.
Waste experience is useful but not essential. Multidrop, removals or delivery driving experience transfers well to this role.
