About Anima Gymnastics Club
Anima Gymnastics Club is an established gymnastics club based in Barnet, North London. We provide recreational gymnastics programmes for children of a range of ages and abilities in a positive, welcoming and professionally run environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Gymnastics Coach to join our recreational coaching team on a permanent, part-time basis.
This role would suit a qualified gymnastics coach who enjoys working as part of a team and is confident delivering structured recreational gymnastics sessions to children.
The Role
As a Gymnastics Coach at Anima, you will work alongside our existing coaching team to deliver high-quality recreational gymnastics sessions.
All lesson plans and programmes are prepared by the club, so there is no lesson planning required as part of this role. Coaches are expected to follow and effectively deliver the programme provided, adapting their coaching and communication to suit the gymnasts within their group.
You will work under the direction of the Lead Coach and alongside other qualified coaches and assistant coaches.
The role is primarily focused on our recreational gymnastics programme and does not include responsibility for squad coaching or programme planning.
Working Hours
The position is approximately 25.5 hours per week across five days, including a weekly staff meeting.
Typical working hours are:
- Monday: 3:00pm – 8:30pm
- Wednesday: 4:00pm – 8:30pm
- Friday: 4:00pm – 8:30pm
- Saturday: 9:00am – 3:30pm
- Sunday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
Applicants should be able to commit reliably to the required working pattern.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering pre-planned recreational gymnastics sessions in line with Anima's coaching programme
- Providing clear, positive and age-appropriate instruction to gymnasts
- Helping gymnasts develop their skills safely and confidently
- Working collaboratively with Lead Coaches and the wider coaching team
- Supporting and helping to develop newer and assistant coaches
- Providing appropriate spotting and physical support where required
- Maintaining a high standard of safeguarding and welfare throughout all sessions
- Ensuring equipment and activities are used safely
- Setting up equipment before sessions and putting equipment away afterwards
- Communicating effectively and professionally with coaches, gymnasts, parents and other members of the Anima team
- Helping to maintain a clean, tidy and safe gym environment
- Assisting with general cleaning and day-to-day upkeep of the gym
- Attending the weekly staff meeting and contributing positively to team discussions
- Following Anima Gymnastics Club's policies, procedures and coaching standards
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a British Gymnastics coaching qualification at Level 1 or above
- Have previous experience coaching gymnastics
- Be confident working with children across a range of ages and abilities
- Have a good understanding of safe gymnastics coaching practices
- Be able to work effectively as part of a coaching team
- Be reliable, punctual and able to commit consistently to the advertised hours
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be enthusiastic and engaging when working with children
- Be able to give clear instructions, corrections and positive feedback
- Take safeguarding and gymnast welfare seriously
- Have a professional and positive attitude
Desirable
The following would be advantageous:
- British Gymnastics Level 2 qualification or above
- Current safeguarding training
- Current Enhanced DBS certificate
- First Aid qualification
- Experience coaching a broad recreational gymnastics programme
Where appropriate, Anima can support the successful applicant with obtaining or updating necessary safeguarding, DBS and related requirements.
