University Hospital Day Nursery
Type: Full-time/part time
Job description: Minimum Level 3 qualified, and will desirably have their Safeguarding training, Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Food Safety and Health and Safety training.
Registered for 122 children, currently OFSTED Good (March 2025). We currently have 192 children on roll and we can take 122 children on any one day. There is a large staff team of 44 staff who hold qualifications from Level 2 to Level 6.
Job description
Purpose of the post
- To share in the responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children at the nursery
- To provide effective daily running of the nursery, in accordance with all relevant legislation, local authority and Ofsted requirements
- To ensure the provision is of its highest quality, providing a safe stimulated and caring environment for children attending the nursery
- To ensure that all agreed quality and safety standards are maintained in the nursery at all times
- To liaise closely with parents/carers to ensure high levels of involvement and customer satisfaction at all times.
Duties and responsibilities
- to help develop all relevant policies and procedures for the nursery.
- Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum into the nursery
- Market the nursery to prospective parents, together with the nursery Directors and Managers.
- Support the mentoring of all staff to ensure the policies and values of the nursery are fully understood and implemented
- Provide high quality care and activities for children which recognize both individual and group requirements
- Support all staff in their job roles and take lead and responsibility in organizing and maintaining the nursery rooms
- Work alongside parents and other family members and make them feel welcome
- To be involved in out of work activities e.g. staff training courses
- Interact and support children to foster enthusiasm for learning
- Encourage other practitioners to have high expectations of all children
- Provide support to students completing placements and training within the setting
- Completion of all relevant paperwork and keep these up to date
- Plan, manage and implement supervision and PDRs
- Ensure the highest standard of safety and security at the setting
- Monitor, identify and evaluate areas of improvement
- Deliver childcare in a way that meets parents’ needs and work in partnership with them providing high levels of customer care at all times
- Work alongside the Directors and other managers to ensure children are safe and happy whilst at The University Hospital Day Nursery
