Job Title: Waking night support worker
Responsible to: Directly employed by the employer (Not a care agency)
Hours: 11hours per week (One night)
Time: 21:00-08:00
Hourly Rate of Pay: £13.00 Per Hour
Based at: Ward End, Birmingham
Job Purpose
I am a 49-year-old woman with a rare type of Muscular Dystrophy which means my muscles are weak which has led to me using NIV (non- invasive ventilator) and a powered wheelchair. I have a team of great staff that help me at various times of the day specially to go out so I can walk my assistance dog which I hope to get soon. I like going to concerts, cinema, shopping, playing games and binge-watching TV series.
Main duties
To support with:
Monitor breathing while I sleep and fix any issues that may arise with non- invasive ventilator (NIV)
Manual handling with another care worker, includes use of hoist/slide sheet
Personal care including washing and dressing
Light household cleaning such as washing up
Perform any duties that are required that are a reasonable request
Person Specification:
Be a dog lover as I am in the process of getting an assistance dog.
Like watching TV / movies as TV on all night
Be good at staying awake all night
To be honest, friendly and have a sense of humour as these are very important to me
Good communication and listening skills
Be able to work solo and as a team
Training will be given in all aspects of my care.
