We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen at St Beuno’s Spirituality Centre, a welcoming 70-bedroom retreat house providing meals for residential guests, retreat groups, events and staff.
This is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys creating nourishing, seasonal food in a calmer, values-led setting. You’ll lead a supportive kitchen team, plan menus around guest numbers and dietary needs, and help create a thoughtful dining experience that reflects the hospitality and character of the house.
What you’ll do
· Lead, supervise and motivate the kitchen team.
· Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments, packed lunches and occasional special meals.
· Create balanced, seasonal menus for guests, groups, retreats, events and staff.
· Manage dietary requirements, allergens, food safety, hygiene, HACCP and COSHH standards.
· Order supplies, manage stock, control costs and reduce waste.
· Prepare rotas and ensure appropriate cover for mealtimes, events, holidays and absence.
About you
· Experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a residential, hospitality, retreat, conference, hotel, care, education, catering or similar high-volume kitchen.
· Strong cooking skills and confidence producing consistent, nourishing meals for groups of varying sizes.
· Experience planning menus around occupancy, events, dietary needs, seasonal produce and budgets.
· Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, allergens, HACCP and COSHH.
· Calm, organised and practical, with the ability to lead by example and support a positive team culture.
