Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and proactive Retail Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandising, and supporting store operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational and communication skills, with a passion for gardening and horticulture. Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desirable to effectively serve our diverse customer base. The Retail Assistant will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring the smooth running of daily store activities.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Support merchandising efforts by organising displays and stock replenishment
- Provide product knowledge, particularly relating to gardening and horticulture items
- Maintain organised shelves and ensure products are correctly labelled and presented attractively
- Assist customers with selecting plants, gardening tools, and related products
- Handle transactions accurately at the till point, including processing payments and returns
- Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-presented throughout the day
- Support stock management by receiving deliveries and organising stockroom areas
- Engage with customers to promote special offers or new product lines
- Contribute to maintaining a positive shopping experience for all visitors
Experience
- Previous retail experience is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of gardening or horticulture is beneficial but not mandatory; enthusiasm for plants is valued
- Multilingual skills, particularly fluency in English and Spanish, are highly desirable to assist a diverse clientele
- Strong communication skills to interact confidently with customers and team members
- Excellent organisational skills to manage stock levels and maintain store presentation effectively
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while delivering outstanding customer service
Pay: £21.53-£38.26 per hour
