Are you someone who takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and enjoys working in a fast-paced, people-focused environment? The Scottish Parliament is looking for a proactive and reliable Porter to join our team.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will provide a comprehensive portering service across the parliamentary estate, supporting the day-to-day operation of the Parliament. You will work closely with parliamentary staff, MSPs, their staff, journalists, contractors, guests and visitors, ensuring that facilities, equipment and resources are delivered efficiently and professionally. Your contribution will play an important role in helping the Scottish Parliament operate smoothly while providing an exceptional experience for everyone who visits and works within the building.
What you’ll do:

Set up meeting rooms, events and workspaces by moving furniture and equipment.

Deliver and move furniture, equipment, mail and other items safely across the Parliament and other locations.

Carry out basic checks on IT and office equipment, including replacing toner, refilling paper and resolving simple issues.

Support events, exhibitions and office moves, including loading and unloading deliveries and managing storage areas.

Provide excellent customer service by assisting staff, visitors and contractors in a professional and helpful manner.

Follow health and safety procedures at all times and carry out other reasonable duties to support the team.
What you'll bring:

A positive, flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

A strong focus on customer service and confident communication skills.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

A good level of physical fitness to safely carry out manual handling tasks, with reasonable adjustments considered where appropriate.

A full, clean UK driving licence is desirable.

Flexibility to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, when required to meet business needs.
