Accounts Assistant
Due to recent expansion, we are looking for an additional Accounts Assistant to join our finance team.

Job Purpose:
The role will provide support to the organisations finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with day-to-day accounting operations whilst ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
This position will require strong attention to detail, confidentiality and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities will include:

Process purchase invoices, expense claims, and supplier payments (bi-weekly) accurately and on time
- Process and reconcile the company credit cards
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers
- Raise and issue sales invoices in line with contractual and project milestones
- Monitor customer accounts, track outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue payments
- Allocate customer receipts and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
- Assist with bank reconciliations and monthly financial reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries under supervision
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards and company policies
- Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to queries
- Assist with budgeting and cost tracking for research, laboratory, and operational expenses
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls relevant to the company and industry
- Undertake ad hoc projects and analysis aligned with the role’s level and scope.
Required Skills, Personal qualities and Qualifications:
Essential:

AAT qualification or part-qualified accountant (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance assistant role
- Experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, research, or regulated industry is an advantage
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Xero, Sage, or similar)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with Proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
-
Understanding of R&D cost tracking and grant funding
- Use of Oracle NetSuite and Kanbina is an advantage but not essential
- Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven environments
- An international mindset – Tropic employs over 30 different nationalities with entities in Singapore, Netherlands, the Philippines and LATAM

- Office-based: With 1 day from home
- Permanent: (9am to 5pm)/ 5 days a week
- Parking: Available subject to eligibility criteria.
