UVS Law is a regulated UK immigration law firm seeking a dedicated and detail-orientated Immigration Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our professional team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This is an entry-level position, and no prior legal experience is required, as full training will be provided. The ideal candidate will have a genuine willingness to learn, strong organisational instincts, and a keen eye for detail. Existing experience in immigration law or a legal environment is a distinct advantage but is not essential.
The successful candidate will support our immigration practitioners by preparing documents, conducting research, and managing case files across a range of matters, including skilled worker sponsorship, leave to remain, entry clearance, judicial review, and citizenship applications. Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and organise immigration documents, correspondence, and application bundles with accuracy and attention to detail
- Conduct research into the UK Immigration Rules, Home Office guidance, and case law to support case preparation
- Manage and maintain client case files, ensuring all documentation is current, accurate, and properly filed
- Assist with client communication, providing excellent service and keeping clients updated on the progress of their matters
- Schedule appointments, hearing dates, and meetings, maintaining an organised calendar for legal staff
- Prepare summaries of case information and assist in compiling evidence, exhibits, and supporting documents
- Support fee earners with administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and filing
- Help ensure compliance with relevant immigration procedures, Home Office deadlines, and firm processes
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree is desirable, ideally in law or a related discipline, though candidates from other academic backgrounds with a strong interest in law are welcome to apply
- A genuine ambition to build a career in law, with enthusiasm for developing specialist expertise in UK immigration (full training provided, so no prior legal experience is required)
- A willingness and ability to learn quickly and absorb new information
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret documents and research findings carefully
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a professional manner towards clients and colleagues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with legal case management software is an advantage
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience in immigration law, a legal practice, or a professional administrative environment is a distinct advantage but is not essential
