Head Greenkeeper

About the Role
Malkins Bank Golf Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Head Greenkeeper to lead the maintenance and development of our golf course. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to take responsibility for presenting the course to the highest standards while managing and developing the greenkeeping team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding grounds.
- Lead, motivate, and manage the greenkeeping team.
- Plan and implement annual maintenance programmes, including aeration, fertilisation, irrigation, and disease management.
- Ensure all greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and landscaped areas are maintained to an exceptional standard.
- Manage machinery maintenance schedules and oversee the safe operation of all equipment.
- Monitor and manage course budgets, resources, and stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety, environmental, and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with the Golf Club Manager, Committee, and members regarding course improvements and ongoing projects.
- Drive continuous improvement and long-term course development plans.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior greenkeeping role, ideally as a Head Greenkeeper or Deputy Head Greenkeeper.
- Relevant greenkeeping qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Excellent knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and course maintenance practices.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekends and bank holidays as required.
- A passion for delivering outstanding playing conditions.
