Job Summary
We are seeking a self-employed Class 1 driver specialising in container transportation to operate in Felixstowe. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering containers efficiently and safely, ensuring timely service for clients. This role offers the flexibility of self-employment with a focus on professional driving within the logistics sector.
Duties
- Operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to transport containers across designated routes in Felixstowe.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and within scheduled timeframes.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety standards.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies during operations.
- Manage documentation related to deliveries, including delivery notes and logs.
- Communicate effectively with clients and dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules or issues.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles or container transport.
- Previous experience as a delivery driver is highly desirable.
- Valid UK driving licence with Class 1 (C+E) entitlement.
- Familiarity with Felixstowe routes and local logistics operations is advantageous.
