About the role
Karis Care Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate and reliable Complex Healthcare Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred care within a client’s own home.
This role is suited to someone who is confident supporting individuals with complex healthcare needs, works calmly under pressure and understands the importance of dignity, consistency and continuity of care.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans, risk assessments and clinical protocols.
- Support with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and activities of daily living.
- Administer medication safely and complete all required records accurately.
- Undertake delegated healthcare activities only after completing the required training and competency assessments.
- Take and record clinical observations where required.
- Recognise changes in a client’s condition and follow the appropriate reporting and escalation procedures.
- Maintain clear, accurate and timely care records.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Promote each client’s dignity, independence, choices and emotional wellbeing.
- Follow safeguarding, infection-control, confidentiality and health and safety procedures.
Complex-care experience
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- PEG care, enteral feeding and medication administration via PEG
- Epilepsy and seizure management, including rescue medication
- Catheter and stoma care
- Oxygen therapy and clinical observations
- Spinal cord injury and autonomic dysreflexia
- Bowel-management programmes, including Peristeen
- Pressure-area care, skin integrity and repositioning
- Hoisting and person-specific moving and handling
- Emotional, behavioural or mental wellbeing support
Package-specific training, shadowing and competency assessments will be completed before working independently.
Essential requirements
- A minimum of 12 months’ recent experience providing complex care.
- A caring, calm and person-centred approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider care team.
- Ability to follow detailed clinical care plans and escalation procedures.
- Reliable, punctual and able to maintain professional boundaries.
- Satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one.
- Existing right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Care Certificate.
- Previous experience providing care within a client’s home.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
