Planet Warriors Kids Club is an established, Ofsted-registered wraparound childcare provider in Thames Ditton. We are looking for an experienced, reliable and responsible Minibus Driver to support our Breakfast Club by safely dropping children off at school each morning and collecting each afternoon.
This is a small but important role within our team. You will be responsible for driving our minibus on a short local route, ensuring children arrive at school safely, punctually and happily.
The role is approximately 60 minutes per morning and afternoon, Monday to Thursday, starting at around 8:30am and 2:45pm, during school term time.
Pay: £15-£18ph
Duties
- Safely operate the PWKC minibus in accordance with road traffic laws and our safeguarding and transport procedures.
- Drive children from Planet Warriors Kids Club to their designated school each morning.
- Ensure children are safely supervised when boarding and leaving the vehicle and handed over appropriately at school.
- Carry out basic pre-journey safety checks and report any vehicle concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming vehicle environment.
- Communicate clearly with the PWKC team regarding any delays, incidents or issues affecting the journey.
- Follow PWKC's safeguarding, health and safety and emergency procedures at all times.
- Treat the children in your care with warmth, patience and professionalism.
Experience & Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a valid D1 driving entitlement/licence and is legally entitled to drive our minibus.
- Has a clean or satisfactory driving record.
- Has previous experience driving a minibus or similar passenger vehicle.
- Is a confident, competent and safety-conscious driver.
- Is extremely dependable and punctual – this is particularly important as children need to arrive at school on time.
- Is friendly and comfortable interacting with primary-aged children.
- Communicates effectively with staff and children.
- Understands the responsibility involved in transporting children.
Because this role involves working with children, the successful applicant will be subject to our safer recruitment procedures, including an Enhanced DBS check and appropriate references.
Previous experience transporting children, working within education/childcare, school transport or passenger transport would be particularly welcome.
This could be an ideal role for an experienced driver looking for a small, regular commitment and who would enjoy playing an important part in the children's day.
Pay: £15.00-£18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 per week
