Health & Safety Business Partner
Location: Birkenhead Head Office, with travel to operational sites
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Qualification: NEBOSH essential
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Health & Safety Business Partner to take a leading role in the continued development of health, safety and compliance across our growing operations.
This is not a traditional Health & Safety Advisor position. We are looking for someone with the experience, confidence and credibility to work alongside senior managers and operational teams, providing both strategic direction and practical support to ensure Health & Safety is embedded into the way we operate.
Working across a fast-paced renewable energy and construction environment, you will act as a trusted partner to the business, challenging where necessary, influencing operational decisions and ensuring consistently high standards across our projects, offices and field-based activities.
The successful candidate will hold a NEBOSH qualification and will have a strong background in Health & Safety within construction, building services, utilities, renewables or a similarly operational environment.
The Role
As Health & Safety Business Partner, you will take ownership of Health & Safety performance across your areas of responsibility, working closely with operational management to identify risk, improve standards and ensure compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a senior Health & Safety partner to operational managers and the wider leadership team.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on Health & Safety legislation, best practice and operational risk.
- Developing a strong, proactive Health & Safety culture across the business.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across live projects.
- Identifying areas of risk and working with management teams to implement practical and sustainable improvements.
- Reviewing and developing RAMS, policies, procedures, safe systems of work and other Health & Safety documentation.
- Leading and supporting investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and significant Health & Safety events.
- Undertaking root-cause analysis and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively.
- Monitoring Health & Safety performance, identifying trends and providing meaningful management information and recommendations.
- Supporting operational teams with CDM requirements and construction-related Health & Safety responsibilities.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Field Managers, installation teams and subcontractors to maintain high standards across live projects.
- Supporting the assessment, onboarding and ongoing monitoring of subcontractors from a Health & Safety perspective.
- Delivering Health & Safety briefings, toolbox talks and management training where required.
- Supporting the business with external audits, client requirements and accreditation schemes.
- Keeping abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and ensuring the business remains compliant.
- Providing constructive challenge where standards fall below expectations and having the confidence to intervene where there is a significant risk to people or the business.
- Supporting senior management in continually improving the company's Health & Safety strategy, systems and culture.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional who can operate with credibility at both site and senior management level.
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate – essential.
- Significant experience within a Health & Safety role in construction, building services, utilities, renewable energy or a comparable operational environment.
- A strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and construction-related regulations.
- Good knowledge of CDM 2015 and the responsibilities of contractors and principal contractors.
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and accident/incident investigations.
- Strong experience of RAMS, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- The ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical solutions for operational teams.
- Confidence working directly with senior managers and challenging decisions or behaviours where appropriate.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify potential issues before they develop into incidents.
- Strong organisational and reporting skills.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to operational sites.
TechIOSH membership or progression towards CertIOSH would be advantageous.
Experience within Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pumps, retrofit, social housing, electrical installation, roofing or wider renewable energy installation would also be highly desirable.
Why Join Us?
LMF Energy Services operates at significant scale within the UK's energy efficiency and renewable energy sector, delivering programmes across technologies including Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pumps and wider domestic decarbonisation measures.
As our operations continue to develop, Health & Safety is a critical part of our ability to deliver safely, consistently and at scale.
This position provides the opportunity to move beyond a traditional advisory role and become a genuine business partner, working directly with operational and senior management to influence how projects are planned, managed and delivered.
You will have the opportunity to make a visible impact on standards across the business, helping us strengthen our systems, develop our people and continue building a proactive Health & Safety culture.

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Health & Safety Advisors, Senior H&S Advisors, H&S Managers or H&S Business Partners who are ready to take ownership, influence operational decision-making and play a key role in the continued development of Health & Safety across a growing organisation.
If you are a NEBOSH-qualified Health & Safety professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, commercially aware approach, we would like to hear from you.
