Ritual Coffee Roasters — Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Ritual Coffee Roasters is a specialty coffee roaster with an onsite Brew Bar and Kitchen based in the Cotswolds, with roots in Cheltenham.
We're a B Corp business, which means the way we source, roast, and serve matters as much as the end result — from our coffee to our food. We're growing our kitchen team and looking for a Head Chef to build and lead it from the ground up.
The Role
We're building out a new kitchen structure and this role sits at the heart of it. You'll take full ownership of the food offering — menu, quality, and day-to-day kitchen operations — leading a team of two sous chefs and the wider kitchen team, and reporting directly into the Director.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape a kitchen from an early stage: setting the standards, building the team, and having real input into what Ritual's food becomes as the business grows.
What You'll Do
- Own the kitchen day-to-day: food quality, consistency, and pace of service across a busy café site
- Lead, train, and manage two sous chefs and the kitchen team, including rotas and performance
- Develop and evolve the food menu, in keeping with Ritual's specialty coffee positioning and B Corp values — quality ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, minimal waste
- Manage supplier relationships, ordering, stock control, and food costs
- Maintain full compliance with food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety standards
- Work closely and reporting in directly to the Director
- Bring a hands-on, standards-first approach to kitchen culture
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to step up, ideally in a creative quality focused
- A track record of leading and developing a kitchen team
- Solid grounding in food hygiene and safety (Level 3 Food Hygiene or working towards it)
- Confidence building and costing menus, and managing suppliers
- Genuine interest in quality, sustainably sourced food
- Comfortable in shaping a growing kitchen and putting your own stamp and style
What We Offer
- The chance to build and lead a kitchen team from the ground up at a growing, values-led independent business
- A B Corp workplace that takes sourcing, sustainability, and people seriously
- Staff discount on food, drink, and coffee
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience

- Company pension
- Discounted or free food
- Employee discount

Experience:
