Senior Healthcare Assistant – Residential Care Home
We are looking for a caring, reliable and motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team at our residential care home. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, support residents with high-quality person-centred care, and assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will be expected to support both the care and senior responsibilities of the role. This includes providing personal care, supporting residents emotionally and socially, administering medication, completing documentation, and supporting care staff during shifts.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing high standards of personal care and support to residents
- Assisting residents with washing, dressing, toileting, mobility and nutrition
- Administering medication safely and accurately in line with policies and procedures
- Completing and updating care records and daily documentation
- Monitoring residents’ wellbeing and reporting any concerns to management or healthcare professionals
- Supporting residents with activities and promoting independence where possible
- Supervising and supporting Healthcare Assistants on shift
- Assisting with moving and handling where required
- Ensuring residents are treated with dignity, respect and compassion at all times
- Communicating effectively with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and colleagues
- Following safeguarding, infection control and health & safety procedures
- Assisting with shift leadership responsibilities when required
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience working in a care home setting
- Experience administering medication preferred
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care preferred
- A compassionate and patient nature
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Reliable, flexible and professional attitude
- Understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding
