Sandyford Abattoir is a division of John Scott Meat, a family run business based in Paisley. Specialising in top quality meat, John Scott Meat continues to go from strength to strength with their foundation of trust between the company, its suppliers, and customers never wavering. John Scott Meat delivers meat to quality butchers, wholesalers, and caterers throughout Scotland and the South East of England. Sandyford Abattoir being part of the business on site allows John Scott Meat to have complete control of its product from farm to customer.
We are now looking for abattoir operatives to join our existing team. Whether you are experienced or are new to the industry, we have opportunities to develop or learn new skills rotating around various different roles (after successful training) to become a multi-skilled operative.
Job summary
Some of the tasks include:
· You will responsible for the processing of cattle and sheep in accordance with Health and Safety and Animal Welfare standards;
· Involvement in the slaughter, dressing, and evisceration of cattle and sheep
· Ensure production runs effectively through teamwork;
· Ensure carcases are dressed and trimmed according to Company and Customer specifications;
· Removal of waste according to Company and Customer specifications;
· Maintain Health, Safety, Hygiene, and food quality standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations;

The ideal candidate will be:
· Ambitious and hardworking;
· Motivated and enthusiastic;
· Keen and willing to learn;
· Able to follow detailed operating procedures with a high degree of attention to detail;
· Able to follow instructions including those relating to personal health and safety and the wearing of PPE;
· Physically fit with a substantial amount of physical ability.
No prior experience required as full training will be provided.
Salary will meet requirements of national minimum wage.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK or hold a valid permit to work in the UK.
