The Great British Tea Bus offers a unique afternoon tea experience aboard a vintage Routemaster bus as it tours the iconic sights of London. We provide exceptional service, high-quality refreshments, and a memorable experience for our guests.
We are looking for a Café Manager to oversee the catering operations on board, ensuring the smooth running of the afternoon tea service, high standards of food presentation, and excellent customer service. The role will also involve providing live commentary during the tour, enhancing the guest experience with interesting facts and stories about London’s landmarks. Full training for the commentary will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the afternoon tea service on board.
- Provide engaging and informative live commentary about the sights and landmarks along the route (full training will be given).
- Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene are maintained.
- Train and supervise catering staff, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Liaise with suppliers and manage stock levels efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations (e.g. HACCP, EHO requirements).
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the on-board catering area.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth service timings and guest satisfaction.
- Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a café manager, catering supervisor, or hospitality manager preferred..
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing a small team.
- Confidence in public speaking and willingness to deliver engaging live commentary (full training provided).
- Food Hygiene Level 1, 2, and 3 certificates are an advantage; however, training can be provided.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required. Evenings occasional. Full-time position Thursday to Monday.
- Barista experience is a plus.
- A passion for delivering a unique and high-quality food and sightseeing experience.
