Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Post Office Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Assist customers with postal services including mailing parcels, selling stamps, and processing transactions efficiently
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring accurate sorting and dispatching
- Provide information about postal products and services to customers
- Handle cash register operations with accuracy and integrity
- Maintain organised workspaces and stock shelves as needed
- Support upselling of additional postal services or products to maximise sales opportunities
- Offer friendly assistance via phone and in-person, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ensure compliance with postal regulations and safety procedures at all times
- Support merchandising efforts within the post office to enhance customer experience
Experience
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or postal services is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Multilingual abilities, particularly fluency in English and Spanish, are highly desirable to assist a diverse customer base
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on clear and courteous interaction
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Ability to demonstrate good phone etiquette and upselling techniques to promote postal products and services
- Proven organisational skills to maintain a tidy workspace and manage multiple tasks efficiently
