Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in a care home. The successful candidate will organise engaging programmes and activities tailored to the needs of residents, including those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse programme of activities that promote socialisation, mental engagement, and physical wellbeing for residents.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and recreational programmes aligned with residents’ interests and abilities.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents, including those with dementia or cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident needs and adapt activities accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programme offerings.
- Promote a positive atmosphere by engaging residents in meaningful activities that enhance their overall wellbeing.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
Skills
- Proven experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, particularly with senior care.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care strategies to support residents with cognitive impairments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through engaging activities.
- Organised with excellent planning skills to coordinate multiple programmes simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt activities for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function.
- Experience in caregiving or care home settings is highly desirable to understand the specific needs of elderly residents.
