Applications are invited for a fixed term Trust Doctor/Clinical Fellow post (ST1-2) at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Medical Microbiology. We are a large Trust and cover most specialties, providing a wide range of experience in clinical microbiology and infection-related medicine.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated junior doctor to join the department. Previous experience of microbiology or infectious diseases would be of benefit, although not essential. This post will offer broad experience in a number of infection-related areas, including in general and specialist fields, infection and prevention control, antimicrobial stewardship and laboratory medicine. There is an active teaching program in the department that the successful applicant will be able to join.
The post will commence as soon as possible after early August and a contract offered for 12 months.
Dependent on assessment of clinical competence, knowledge and experience, there may be opportunities to undertake on-call duties during the course of the post, with the back-up of an on-call Consultant. This is subject for discussion and review. This post is a full-time position, 40 hours per week; however, any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post.
Typical duties include:
- Clinical Microbiology consultation/liaison
- report authorisation
- antimicrobial stewardship activities/ward rounds
- Infection prevention and control liaison
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice at the date of appointment. Those international candidates who are eligible for GMC registration at the time of application can apply for the post, GMC registration can be facilitated via our international recruitment team subject to meeting GMC essential criteria.
