Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to cover lunch times in our nursery setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, supporting children during their midday break. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of the children, while maintaining a positive and organised atmosphere. Previous experience in childcare or nursery settings is preferred, alongside strong communication skills and a caring attitude.
Duties
- Supervising children during their lunch break, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Assisting children with eating and encouraging good table manners
- Engaging children in age-appropriate activities or conversations to promote social interaction
- Maintaining a clean and tidy environment in the dining area before and after meals
- Supporting children with special needs or additional requirements as needed
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, parents, and children to ensure smooth daily operations
- Following nursery policies and procedures regarding health, safety, and child protection standards
Requirements
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings, ideally within a nursery environment
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Strong management and leadership skills to oversee children's behaviour positively
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently during lunch cover periods while maintaining professionalism
- Childcare qualifications or relevant training are desirable but not essential
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for travel between nursery locations if required
