Northumberland Skills Service [part of Northumberland County Council] is seeking to appoint a Childcare & Early Years Lecturer who can make a difference within Northumberland.
This role is fixed term until August 2027, full time and based at our Alnwick Campus.
Salary £35,412 - £39,152
The role is for individuals with both significant Industry experience and experience in delivering programmes to Post 16 learners and Apprentices.
About the role:
A Childcare and Apprenticeship Lecturer is responsible for recruiting, teaching, mentoring and assessing learners undertaking childcare qualifications and apprenticeships, ensuring they develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for successful careers in Early Years and Education. The role involves providing high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning, conducting initial assessments, developing individual learning plans, and supporting learners to achieve their qualifications, apprenticeship standards and career goals.
The post holder works closely with apprentices, employers and workplace mentors to monitor progress, conduct reviews, provide pastoral support and ensure that learning is effectively applied within the workplace. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering engaging lessons, developing learning resources, assessing learner performance, preparing learners for examinations and End-Point Assessment, and promoting English, maths, safeguarding, British Values, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the curriculum.
In addition, the lecturer contributes to quality assurance processes, internal and external verification activities, self-assessment and continuous improvement planning. They maintain accurate learner and funding records, support recruitment and enrolment activities, and promote progression opportunities into employment, higher-level apprenticeships and further study. The role requires a strong commitment to professional development, safeguarding, and maintaining current knowledge of childcare legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice within the Early Years sector.
Applicants should have:

A Level 3 or above qualification in Childcare & Early Years

A Teaching Qualification or willing to work towards.

A relevant Assessor qualification or willing to work towards.

An innovative approach to delivering high-quality educational programmes across a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3.

Good knowledge of Education Inspection Framework.
The successful candidate to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Check.
