We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Casual Lifeguards. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy leisure environment which will include Darwen Leisure Centre and Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre where safety, excellent customer service, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.
As part of our lifeguarding team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all pool users while helping to create a welcoming and positive experience for visitors. Working alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive environment, you will be responsible for maintaining high safety standards, supervising pool activities, and responding confidently in emergency situations.
This casual role offers flexible working hours, making it ideal for individuals seeking work that can fit around studies, other employment, or personal commitments. Whether you are an experienced lifeguard or just starting out and looking to further develop your skills within the leisure industry, we would love to hear from you.
You will need to be a competent, qualified lifeguard; fulfilling lifesaving and first aider duties. There is also responsibility for the cleaning, preparation and general safety of facilities for customers and leisure centre users.
What you will be doing:
To be responsible for safe pool supervision, working to prevent accidents and emergencies by effectively implementing relevant policies and procedures, safe systems of work and Health & Safety regulations; complying with Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures.
As a Ensuring the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained by carrying out routine and other cleaning tasks when required.
To attend regular staff training and pursue continual professional development; maintaining levels of fitness and wellness to enable the continued attainment of ‘essential’ qualifications and meet the physical demands of the job.
To control customer use and behaviour within the facility in accordance with safe operating procedures and code of conduct and ensure that unsafe practices are promptly dealt with or reported as appropriate.
Preparing activity areas to include the safe setting up/dismantling of equipment and ensuring that all equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use.
Assisting customers with enquires in a friendly and effective manner, proactively developing and maintaining high standards of customer care, resolving customers’ problems, including situations where there maybe disagreement over the actions and outcomes involved.
