Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to support the educational and personal development of young people. This role involves working closely with students to foster confidence, resilience, and academic success. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring and experience working with children or young people, particularly in educational or youth work settings. Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group mentoring sessions tailored to individual student needs
- Support students in developing organisational skills, confidence, and social-emotional resilience
- Assist with academic progress by offering guidance on study techniques and time management
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff to promote a collaborative approach
- Develop personalised action plans to help students achieve their personal and educational goals
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to relevant stakeholders
- Organise engaging activities that promote learning, self-esteem, and social skills
- Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions and student development
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching, mentoring, or youth work, preferably with children or young people
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people's growth and development
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit diverse learners and backgrounds
- Commitment to safeguarding protocols and maintaining confidentiality at all times
Pay: £12.50-£13.50 per hour
