We are seeking a dedicated Timber/Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving customers, managing materials, operating equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of yard activities. The Timber/Yard Operative will play a vital part in supporting logistics, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring efficient utilisation of resources.
Duties
- Operating forklifts and other machinery to load, unload, and organise materials
- Serving customers in the yard
- Handling materials safely in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Picking orders for site deliveries
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation checks
- Loading and unloading lorries using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Carrying out stock counts.
- Conducting routine maintenance checks on equipment such as forklifts
- Assisting with general yard organisation, including tidying work areas.
- Occasional use of woodworking machinery.
Qualifications
- Previous industry experience in a Timber environment is essential
- Good customer service skills required
- Valid forklift licence or certification is highly advantageous
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards
