Head Chef – The Trof, Northern Quarter
£40k package (inc. tronc) + 10% bonus
We’re looking for a Head Chef to help shape the next chapter of The Trof
Having recently entering the Michelin Guide, after a full refurb and rebrand, we’ve got big plans for the site. Proper fresh food, great atmosphere, busy services, and a kitchen team that genuinely enjoys what they do. We've got big ambitions and we’re looking for someone who wants to be a big part of that journey.
This isn’t a corporate role where you’re stuck following specs and ticking boxes. We’re looking for a chef with personality, ideas, and standards, someone who cares about food, enjoys leading a team, and wants the freedom to make their mark.
You’ll be working closely with the Director of Food on monthly-changing menus, seasonal dishes, and building a kitchen culture people actually want to be part of.
What the role looks like:
- Running a busy fresh-food kitchen day to day
- Leading from the front during service
- Creating and delivering seasonal menu changes
- Training and developing your team
- Managing stock, ordering, margins, and kitchen organisation
- Keeping standards high without killing the vibe
- Making sure every plate that leaves the pass is something you’re proud of

We’d love to hear from you if…
You’ve spent at least a year as a Sous Chef (or similar)
You know how to run a fresh-food kitchen
You’re organised, calm under pressure, and good with people
You care about food quality and team culture equally
You understand GP, stock control, HACCP, and all the important bits
You want to be somewhere you can actually have an impact
Most importantly, we want someone who’s ambitious, grounded, and excited by the idea of building something great with a good team around them.
Pay: £40,000.00 per year
