Clinical Lead Nurse – Nursing Home
Location: Manchester area
Pay: Up to £26 per hour depending on experience
Job type: Permanent
Employer: Confidential nursing home
Full address: Shared with shortlisted applicants only
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Lead Nurse to join a nursing home in the Manchester area.
This is a confidential vacancy, so the company name and full address will only be shared with suitable applicants at the next stage.
We are looking for a strong nurse who knows what good care looks like and has the confidence to help lead it properly. This role is ideal for an experienced RGN, RMN, Senior Nurse, Unit Manager, Deputy Manager, Nurse in Charge, or Clinical Lead who wants a proper leadership role in a nursing home environment.
This is not a role for someone who wants to hide in the background. We need someone visible, organised, clinically strong, and confident enough to support the team, challenge poor standards, and help drive the home forward.
The Role
As Clinical Lead Nurse, you will work closely with the Home Manager and senior team to support the day-to-day clinical running of the home.
You will help lead the nursing and care team, maintain high clinical standards, support safe care delivery, and make sure residents receive the level of care they deserve.
You will be hands-on, present on the floor, and involved in the real running of the home. You will support nurses and carers, review care plans, identify risks, communicate with families and professionals, and help make sure the home is safe, well-led, and clinically strong.
We want someone who takes pride in doing things properly.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be responsible for supporting and leading high standards across the home, including:
- Leading and supporting nurses, senior carers, and care staff
- Maintaining strong clinical standards across the home
- Supporting care plans, risk assessments, reviews, and clinical documentation
- Overseeing medication standards and safe practice
- Supporting wound care, falls management, nutrition, hydration, infection control, safeguarding, and end-of-life care
- Working closely with GPs, district nurses, hospitals, families, and other professionals
- Supporting audits, compliance, clinical governance, and quality improvement
- Helping identify training needs and supporting staff development
- Challenging poor practice when needed
- Helping create a calm, professional, and accountable culture
This is a leadership role, but it is also a hands-on nursing role. You need to be comfortable leading from the front.
What We’re Looking For
You must be a Registered Nurse with an active NMC PIN.
You should have good experience in a nursing home, care home, elderly care, dementia care, complex care, or adult care setting.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Clinically competent
- Confident with care plans and documentation
- Strong on medication standards and safe practice
- Calm under pressure
- Able to lead and support a team
- Comfortable dealing with residents, relatives, professionals, and staff
- Honest, reliable, and professional
- Strong enough to challenge poor standards
- Kind enough to support people properly
Previous experience as a Clinical Lead Nurse, Senior Nurse, Unit Manager, Deputy Manager, Nurse in Charge, RGN, RMN, or experienced Staff Nurse would be ideal.
A strong nurse ready to step up will also be considered, but you must already have the confidence and clinical knowledge to lead others.
The Right Person
The right person for this role will care about standards.
You will not walk past poor care, poor communication, poor documentation, or poor attitude.
You will be the type of nurse who notices when something is not right and does something about it.
You will support the team, but you will also hold people accountable.
You will be calm, direct, fair, and professional.
Most importantly, you will want residents to receive safe, dignified, person-centred care every day — not just when inspection is coming.
Pay
The pay is £26 per hour depending on experience.
The higher rate is available for someone with strong nursing home experience, strong clinical knowledge, and the ability to make a real impact quickly.
We are prepared to pay properly for the right person.
Why Apply?
This is a good opportunity for an experienced nurse who wants more responsibility, more influence, and a proper leadership role in a nursing home setting.
You will be joining a home where your experience will matter, your standards will matter, and your leadership will make a difference.
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of improving and maintaining a strong nursing home — not just someone looking for another job.
If you are a strong Clinical Lead Nurse, Senior Nurse, RGN, RMN, Unit Manager, Deputy Manager, Nurse in Charge, or experienced nursing home nurse, we would like to hear from you.
