About Maton Rose Interiors
At Maton Rose, we aim to be the preferred partner for high-quality, dependable commercial and institutional interiors.
We take pride in every project, always setting high standards of workmanship. We do what we say, delivering on time, every time, and we communicate closely with clients to avoid surprises. And we work closely with customers to find practical, creative solutions.
Since Maton Rose was founded in 2011, we have built longstanding relationships and we are now investing in a phase of expansion to meet customer demand.
The role
We are looking for a practical, organised and personable individual to build strong customer relationships and look after projects across Cambridge.
The most important part of this role is building close, trusted, long-term relationships with our university, college and school customers. You will spend time regularly visiting these customers, getting to know the people responsible for their buildings and accommodation, responding to their needs and making sure Maton Rose Interiors remains their first call for furniture and furnishings.
This is not a conventional sales role. Success comes from understanding our customers and being responsive to their needs. We do not use hard sales tactics.
You might spend the morning in Cambridge fitting blinds or curtains you have previously measured for, then meet other customers to discuss an upcoming refurbishment, before travelling to Wellingborough to brief our factory team, collect products and organise the next day’s work.
You should therefore expect to travel between Cambridge and Wellingborough on most working days, and occasional customer visits elsewhere across the UK. A company vehicle and fuel will be provided.
What you’ll do
Look after our Cambridge customers
- Regularly visit our established Cambridge university, college and school customers.
- Build strong relationships with facilities, accommodation, maintenance and project teams.
- Understand upcoming refurbishment, furniture and furnishing requirements.
- Become a familiar and trusted point of contact for Maton Rose Interiors in Cambridge.
Survey and quote
- Visit rooms and buildings to take accurate measurements for curtains, blinds and furniture and help customers choose appropriate products, fabrics and finishes.
- Prepare quotations, working with other team members to ensure manufacturability, timelines and pricing are correct.
- Respond to ad hoc requests for help, for example taking away furniture for refurbishment.
- Keep customers informed as projects progress.
- Bring project information back to our Wellingborough team so work can move quickly into production.
Deliver and install
- Collect finished products from our Wellingborough factory and take them to customer sites.
- Professionally install blinds and curtains.
- Carry out straightforward furniture fitting, assembly and snagging, independently or with our wider fitting team.
- Make sure completed work is left clean, tidy and finished to a high standard.
What we’re looking for
You should be:
- Naturally good at building relationships with customers.
- Someone customers will trust, enjoy dealing with and want to call again.
- Reliable and responsive when customers need help.
- Well organised and capable of managing your own appointments and workload.
- Comfortable working without close supervision.
- Careful and accurate when measuring.
- Practical and comfortable using hand and power tools.
- Physically comfortable with furniture delivery and installation work.
- Able and willing to drive regularly between Cambridge and Wellingborough.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
Experience in furniture, furnishings, interiors or a related practical field is essential. Experience measuring or fitting curtains and blinds would be particularly useful, although we can train someone with the right practical skills and attitude.
As you build experience and customer relationships, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility for key accounts, larger projects and broader commercial activities within the business.
