Registered Manager – Residential Care Home
Location: Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Job type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week, plus on-call responsibilities
About the role
We are recruiting an experienced and compassionate Registered Manager to lead a well-established residential care home for older adults in the Burnham-on-Sea area, providing high-quality, person-centred care for 35+ residents. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven care professional to take full operational responsibility for a home with a strong reputation in its community, and to shape its continued growth and quality of care.
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall accountability for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safety and compliance while leading and developing a dedicated staff team.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold CQC registration as the home's Registered Manager and act as the main point of contact for the Care Quality Commission, ensuring the service consistently meets and exceeds regulatory requirements.
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the care, catering, housekeeping and administrative teams, fostering a positive, person-centred culture.
- Oversee care planning and delivery to ensure residents receive safe, dignified and individualised care.
- Manage staff recruitment, induction, training, supervision, appraisal and rota planning to maintain safe staffing levels at all times.
- Take full responsibility for the home's budget, occupancy levels and financial performance, working to agreed targets.
- Build strong relationships with residents and their families, responding promptly and professionally to any concerns.
- Ensure robust health & safety, safeguarding and infection control practices are embedded throughout the home.
- Lead on audits, quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise effectively with external stakeholders including local authorities, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns in line with policy and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
- NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards, or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or senior leader within a residential care setting for older adults.
- Sound working knowledge of CQC standards, regulatory frameworks and best practice in adult social care.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- A genuine passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and improving residents' quality of life.
- Sound financial and budget management skills.
- Eligibility to register with the CQC as a Registered Manager, including satisfactory DBS clearance.
