Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Motor Mechanic/MOT Tester to join our dynamic automotive team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. As an MOT Tester, you will conduct official Ministry of Transport (MOT) inspections to certify vehicles meet legal safety standards. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive mechanical repairs and maintenance on various vehicle makes and models, including engine diagnostics, brake repairs, suspension work, and electrical systems.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out repairs with precision and efficiency.
- Conduct thorough MOT inspections in accordance with legal requirements, identifying issues that may prevent certification and advising customers accordingly.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks such as moving engines or large components safely using appropriate equipment.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Diagnose vehicle faults accurately through testing procedures and recommend effective solutions for repair or replacement parts.
- Ensure all work adheres to health and safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment essential for automotive servicing.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling engine components or other heavy parts.
- Previous experience conducting MOT tests or certification is highly desirable; relevant training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues efficiently.
- Good communication skills to explain technical information clearly to customers.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.
