About Us
TMC Construction is an established, growing construction company specialising in high-quality residential renovations, extensions and new builds throughout Sussex.
Alongside TMC, we are also growing our property development company, Waafer Developments.
We’re at an exciting stage where the business has outgrown our current finance systems. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys bringing structure, clarity and control to a growing business.
This is not a traditional bookkeeping role.
We’re looking for someone who can become a trusted adviser to the directors, helping build the financial systems and reporting that will support the next stage of growth.
The Role
Initially working one day per week, you’ll review our existing finance function, identify opportunities for improvement and help implement robust financial systems and processes.
You’ll work closely with the directors to provide clear financial visibility and help us make better commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
● Review and improve our finance systems and processes.
● Maintain and oversee Xero.
● Produce meaningful monthly management accounts.
● Build and maintain cash flow forecasts.
● Develop project costing and profitability reporting.
● Oversee VAT, CIS and payroll processes.
● Implement spending controls and approval processes.
● Improve supplier payment and credit control procedures.
● Produce simple weekly KPI and financial dashboards.
● Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve profitability.
● Support directors with commercial decision making.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
● Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar.
● Construction industry experience (essential).
● Strong knowledge of Xero.
● Experience with CIS, VAT and management accounts.
● Excellent Excel and reporting skills.
● Strong commercial awareness.
● A passion for improving systems and processes.
● The confidence to challenge existing ways of working and recommend improvements.
