- Ensure Kitchen has sufficient notice to prepare components in line with the packing plan.
- Monitor changes to actual orders and forecasts and communicate any changes to Kitchen promptly.
- Identify potential shortages of components at an early stage and escalate them to the Floor Manager and the Kitchen.
- Coordinate closely with Kitchen and Packing to ensure components are available when required.
- Ensure the packing plan reflects the availability of finished components.
- Prioritise production where customer deadlines, stock requirements or operational issues require changes to the plan.
Packing Planning
- Prepare and maintain the daily packing plan based on estimated and final order demand and available components.
- Ensure the correct meals are packed in the correct quantities and within required timeframes.
- Adjust the packing plan when orders, component availability, staffing or production circumstances change.
- Escalate potential delays to the Floor Manager as soon as they are identified.
Floor Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate packing operatives during the shift.
- Allocate staff to packing lines and tasks according to the day's requirements.
- Communicate production priorities and targets clearly to the team.
- Monitor productivity, attendance, breaks and labour utilisation.
- Ensure employees follow company procedures, work instructions and food safety requirements.
- Support the Floor Manager with team management and performance issues.
- Provide hands-on support to the packing team when required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, discipline and GMP throughout the packing area.
Communication Between Kitchen & Packing
The role will be a key communication point between the Kitchen and Packing departments.
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in food manufacturing, preferably ready meals, chilled food or FMCG.
- Experience in packing, production or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or team-leader experience is desirable.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Good numerical and analytical ability.
- Good computer and Excel skills.
- The ability to understand customer orders and translate them into production/component requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly between different production departments.
- The ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to changing requirements.
- A strong attention to detail.
- Must have knowledge of dynamics
