ABC Nursery is a bustling, friendly setting that has been offering safe, nurturing and stimulating childcare on Perth's North Inch for the past 20 years.
We are looking for an experienced practitionerwho is passionate about making a difference in children's lives, is able to spark curiosity and imagination and ready to challenge themselves to make the next step as a Room Leader Early Years Practitioner.
Working together with other room leaders, lead senior and Nursery management team the role involves driving the continuous improvement of the setting and development of it's values, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the nursery.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Ensuring the room provides the best possible educational experience for children
- Ensuring the room provides a caring and nurturing environment
- Guiding the team to plan and evaluate activities
- Working in partnership with children, families and staff to develop our nursery's values and vision
- As a keyworker, you will ensure every individual child’s needs are met, including supporting parents with any SEND needs
- Take ownership of the observation, assessments and planning for your key children in line with Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition, Pre-birth to Three frameworks and provide developmentally challenging next steps as well as supporting the staff team
- Ensure we encourage and praise children’s development and achievements whilst guiding and managing the team in your room
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have
- Strong motivational skills
- A robust knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition, Pre-birth to Three and other relevant guidance, exceptional organisational skills and an enthusiastic, positive attitude.
- The ability to use initiative and be proactive in fulfilling the duties of the job role.
- The successful candidate MUST hold a minimum either a HNC/SVQ Level 3 in a relevant childcare qualification, and ideally be working towards their SVQ4 / BA in Childhood Practice (but not essential)
- Experience is required in planning, observations, assessments and evaluation as well as preparing and undertaking activities which support the Child's learning and development.
- Knowledge of the curriculum for excellence, pre-birth to Three guidance, realising the ambition, early years education theorists, schematic play, and an up to date understanding of the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland's guidance notes.
