Online Order Picker / Supervisor-in-Training

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Online Order Picker to join our busy online shopping team at Saveco.
This position would suit someone who takes pride in their work, works accurately at pace and is prepared to take responsibility. While the role will begin with picking and preparing customer orders, we are particularly interested in someone who has the confidence and potential to progress into a supervisory role.
Key responsibilities
- Picking grocery, fresh, chilled and frozen products for online orders
- Checking product quality, freshness and expiry dates
- Ensuring every order is picked accurately and presented properly
- Selecting appropriate alternatives when an item is unavailable
- Preparing orders for local and nationwide delivery
- Handling customer orders carefully and maintaining excellent hygiene standards
- Reporting unavailable products or order issues promptly
- Helping the team meet daily picking and dispatch deadlines
- Keeping the online working and storage areas clean and organised
Supervisory progression
For the right candidate, the role will develop to include:
- Allocating work and coordinating the online team
- Checking completed orders for accuracy and quality
- Supporting daily delivery and dispatch planning
- Monitoring workload and ensuring orders leave on time
- Resolving order issues and communicating with other departments
- Training and supporting members of the online team
- Taking responsibility for the department when senior management is unavailable
What we are looking for
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to work quickly without compromising accuracy
- Confident using smartphones, tablets and basic computer systems
- A good communicator who works well with others
- Comfortable working in chilled and frozen areas when required
- Physically capable of lifting and moving shopping crates
- Willing to work early mornings and weekends as part of a rota
- Able to use initiative and remain calm during busy periods
- Interested in developing into a supervisory position
Previous experience in retail, supermarket, online order fulfilment or team supervision would be helpful, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are especially important to us.
