About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Tender Manager to lead the preparation, management, and submission of high-quality tender proposals across a range of engineering, fabrication, and integrated project opportunities.
As the pre-contract lead, you will be responsible for managing the full tender lifecycle, from opportunity assessment and bid strategy through to contract award and handover to operations. You will work closely with clients, suppliers, senior management, and internal departments to develop commercially competitive, technically compliant, and commercially viable proposals.
Projects range from individual equipment and service packages through to complex integrated projects valued between £50,000 and £100 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage assigned tender opportunities through to contract award.
- Organise and facilitate Bid/No-Bid reviews, kick-off meetings, risk reviews, gate reviews, and pricing reviews.
- Develop tender strategies aligned with customer requirements and company objectives.
- Prepare and submit pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and tender submissions.
- Coordinate tender responses across engineering, commercial, procurement, and operational teams.
- Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and cost information.
- Develop and maintain tender schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk registers.
- Ensure all tenders comply with company procedures, governance requirements, and approval processes.
- Manage customer clarifications and contract negotiations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and key stakeholders throughout the tender process.
- Monitor enquiry portals and customer opportunities.
- Maintain CRM records, client visit reports, and tender documentation.
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain tender templates, cost models, processes, and procedures.
- Coordinate client feedback and lessons learned activities to improve win rates.
- Lead successful handover of awarded contracts to project delivery teams.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
- Travel within the UK and internationally as required.
About You
You will be a highly organised and commercially aware professional with a proven track record of managing complex tenders within an engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, or project-based environment. Relevant experience of design and supply of mechanical handling equipment or similar assembled and designed equipment.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a Tender Manager, Bid Manager, Project Manager, or similar role.
- Experience tendering or delivering bespoke engineering systems and solutions.
- Engineering and/or fabrication project background.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Experience working within stage-gate or structured project execution processes.
- Excellent client-facing, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial, budgeting, and cost management experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
- Qualification in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Desirable
- Formal project management certification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent).
- Experience within offshore, energy, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
