To provide operational support to the Directorate Management Team in meeting Directorate and Organisational objectives. The post will specifically help support the Service Managers to ensure that quality, activity and financial targets are met.
The postholder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties to support the Service Manager in the operational management of the Directorate. The postholder will support the Directorate Management team by working on specific projects such as modernising clinical services using modernisation tools and techniques and assisting in the development of business cases. This is a development role, allowing the postholder to improve their management skills. Consequently, the duties undertaken by an Assistant Service Manager may be extended, if appropriate.
Line manage Operational Support Managers (OSM’s) effectively
Analyse and interpret waiting list data/information to support planning and performance processes and effective resource management within the Directorate.
Support the OSM’s to effectively manage waiting lists for inpatients and outpatients to ensure Patient Charter standards, national and local targets are met.
Performance manage cancelled admissions/operations within the Directorate to ensure rescheduled operations achieve Patient Charter and local standards.
Manage delegated projects in order to delivery key objectives.
Investigate complaints and incidents in line with the Trust Policy as required.
Communicate effectively within the Directorate, between Directorates, Trustwide and with external agencies.
Assist in delivering delegated CIP schemes and take an active role in the Directorate CIP process, as specified by the ASD.
Analyse activity information in conjunction with the Service Manager with a view to improving and developing service planning and delivery. Input into business cases/specific initiatives as considered appropriate by the Service Manager.
Work closely with the Patient Access Team and IT to review clinic utilisation to ensure the maximum use of available resources.
Performance manage the production of activity information to report against specific contractual requirements and deadlines e.g. NCG
