Business Development Manager
Location: LondonEmployment: Full-time, PermanentSalary: £35,000+ basic + uncapped commission + annual KPI performance bonus
About EcoScent
EcoScent is a growing scent marketing and fragrance business providing commercial scenting solutions, fragrance systems and private label products to clients across a wide range of sectors.
We work with businesses to develop scent solutions that enhance their environments, customer experience and brand identity, from individual installations through to multi-site rollouts and bespoke fragrance and private label projects.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales team.
The Role
This is a hands-on B2B sales role combining new business development with ongoing account growth.
You will manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to conversation, working with both inbound leads and proactively developing new businesses. You’ll meet clients, understand what they are trying to achieve and develop the right commercial solution rather than simply sell from a standard product list.
The variety is a significant part of the role. Opportunities vary considerably in scope, from individual scenting projects through to larger commercial installations, multi site rollouts and bespoke private label projects.
You will also build and develop your own portfolio of client accounts, identifying opportunities to expand relationships through additional locations, products and services.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of their pipeline and does not wait for opportunities to come to them.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, organised and confident communicating with clients at different levels. Just as importantly, they will understand that successful sales depend on accurate communication, realistic commitments and strong collaboration with the wider business.

- Maintain commercial ownership of the client relationship following conversions.
- Proactively identify account growth, renewal, upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to introduce EcoScent products and services.
- Understand clients' changing requirements and identify opportunities for further sites, projects or services.
- Conduct regular account reviews where appropriate.
- Build relationships that support long-term client retention and commercial growth.
Pipeline & Opportunity Management
- Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline.
- Follow up opportunities consistently and within agreed timescales.
- Record all meaningful client activity, opportunities and next actions accurately within the CRM.
- Maintain clear next steps and expected close dates for active opportunities.
- Identify stalled opportunities and take proactive action to progress them.
- Provide accurate pipeline and sales forecasts.
Internal Collaboration & Handover
- Work closely with Operations, Project Management, Marketing and other internal teams.
- Ensure relevant colleagues are involved at the appropriate stage of complex, bespoke and Private Label opportunities.
- Confirm operational feasibility before making commitments to clients where required.
- Provide complete and accurate handovers following conversion.
- Ensure all agreed client requirements, commercial terms and delivery expectations are clearly documented.
- Escalate issues promptly where support or management input is required.

Our Culture
EcoScent is a growing business with a close-knit team and a genuinely collaborative way of working. As we grow, we are continuing to strengthen our structure, clarify ownership and give people greater accountability within their roles.
People are trusted to take ownership of their area, make decisions and bring forward ideas. In return, we expect accountability, good judgement and a willingness to ask for support when it's needed.
We work hard and standards are high, but we also value personality, humour and people who contribute positively to the wider team. Success is recognised and celebrated, and good ideas are welcomed regardless of where they come from.
As we continue to grow, there is real opportunity for people to develop with the business, broaden their responsibilities and influence how we do things rather than simply step into a role where everything has already been decided.

This will include:
- Achievement of agreed sales targets.
- New business revenue generated.
- Conversion rate.
- Value and quality of active pipeline.
- Pipeline and forecast accuracy.
- Average order value and overall commercial quality of sales.

The Person

You will need to balance the drive to win business with the judgement to ensure that what is promised to the client can be delivered by the wider team.
Ownership, accountability and collaboration are important to how we work. We operate in a growing business where people are expected to take responsibility for their are, communicate openly and work across teams to achieve the right outcome for both the client and the business.
