We are seeking a motivated and technically minded Technical Sales Manager to join our team. This is a predominantly office based role focused on providing technical sales support, preparing quotations and proposals, managing customer enquiries, and developing new business opportunities across our product portfolio.
The role would suit an individual with a strong engineering background who enjoys customer interaction and can confidently translate technical requirements into effective commercial solutions.
The Role
You will be responsible for handling customer enquiries that are predominantly technical in nature, identifying customer requirements, recommending suitable solutions, and managing the preparation of all associated sales documentation.
Acting as the technical lead within the sales process, you will support customers, distributors, and internal teams by ensuring customers receive the most appropriate manufacturing solution for their requirements.
Although primarily office based, occasional UK and international travel will be required to support customer visits, demonstrations, exhibitions, and distributor activities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales & Applications Support
- Respond to customer enquiries and provide technical advice on Denford products and solutions.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate CNC, CAD/CAM, laser, waterjet, and additive manufacturing solutions.
- Advise customers on manufacturing processes, machine capabilities, and suitable technology solutions.
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations for customers, distributors, and partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and industry partners.
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
Sales Administration & Documentation
- Prepare and manage professional quotations.
- Process customer orders and issue order acknowledgements using Sage 200.
- Manage tender submissions and large project documentation.
- Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity within Sage CRM.
Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance throughout the pre sales and post sales process.
- Support distributors with product knowledge and technical enquiries.
Systems & Administration
- Use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Use Sage 200 and Sage CRM (training provided where required) for sales administration and order processing.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience selling or supporting technical products within CNC machine tools, manufacturing technology, or CAD/CAM related sectors.
- Experience preparing quotations, proposals, tenders, and technical sales documentation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.

Pay: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
