Job Title: Transport Planner

Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm Monday- Friday
About the Role
Gavin Griffiths Group, a leading Waste and Recycling business, is recruiting for a Transport Planner to be based at our Swansea depot. This is a permanent position created due to continued business growth. We are looking for a high-calibre individual who can grow with the company and support the delivery of our strategic objectives.
This role is key to ensuring the smooth, efficient, and compliant planning of our commercial waste transport operations. You will act as a central point of contact for drivers and liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule our Bulk Haulage division
- Optimise routes to maximise efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery
- Ensure all services are completed in line with agreed SLAs and customer expectations
- Monitor vehicle activity and adjust plans in real time to resolve issues
- Manage missed collections, service changes, and customer escalations
- Work closely with drivers, customer service teams, and key accounts
- Work closely with emergency response planning team, being able to offer unit and driver support when needed.
- Support onboarding of new contracts and integrate them into existing routes
- Liaise with night planners and provide detailed handovers to the day team
- Maintain accurate transport records and upload delivery documentation to systems
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, waste legislation, and duty of care requirements
- Comply with all Health, Safety, HR, and Environmental policies and procedures
- Complete general administrative duties as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in transport planning, logistics (preferred)
- Strong geographical knowledge of South England and Wales
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Good IT skills (experience with Weighsoft and Samsara platforms preferred)
- Understanding of driver hours, tachograph rules, and waste regulations (desirable)
