CKstone Limited is a family run business which has been established for over 13 years.
We manufacture solid surface worktops, fire hearths, bathroom vanities, bath surrounds, windowsills, outdoor kitchens, tabletops – anything which can be produced using sheeted stone.
We are currently looking for a CNC Operator to join our friendly team at our factory in Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set up and operate our specialised CNC machine.
- Read and interpret detailed digital CAD drawings to ensure complete accuracy.
- Install, calibrate and secure the correct cutting heads, profiling wheels and tooling configurations for each specific stone material.
- Safely locate, load and secure heavy stone slabs onto the machine bed using overhead crane, vacuum lifters or forklift.
- Carry out specialised cuts for under-mount sinks, hob cut-outs, tap holes, drainer grooves and complex edge profiles such as bullnose, OGEE, mitred edges etc.
- Conduct strict visual and dimensional checks and inspect finished items for scratches, chips, or manufacturing defects, before handing over to fabrication technicians.
- Perform basic machine troubleshooting, when required.
- Ensure routine daily machine maintenance is undertaken.
- Clean the work area at the end of each day.
- Ensure the factories water recycling system functions correctly.
Required Skills & Experience:
- A minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating CNC machinery, specifically within the stone fabrication or worktop industry, is highly preferred.
- Practical knowledge of CAD software.
- Comprehensive understanding of how different stones react to cutting speeds and tooling pressures.
- Strong baseline mathematical skills to adjust machine offsets and double-check physical measurements against digital templates.
- Ability to handle physical labour, stand for extended periods and perform heavy lifting safely.
Workplace Conditions:
- The cutting process utilises a constant stream of water to suppress hazardous stone dust, making the working environment inherently wet and noisy.
- Strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines is required, including steel-toe boots, ear defenders, safety glasses and protective respiratory equipment.
Standard working hours are: Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. Overtime may be required during busy periods.
Pay negotiable, depending on experience.
You must be able to get to and from our factory based in Thorpe-le-Soken.
